One year ago, Hanalei Burger opened its little burger truck in Hanalei and quickly became one of the North Shore’s favorite local spots. Hanalei Burger has created something really meaningful with their local surf team, the “Grom Squad.” The program supports young North Shore surfers by helping cover surf contest entry fees, travel expenses, and other opportunities that help local kids follow their dreams in the water.
They’ve even invited the kids to create original Hanalei Burger artwork and merchandise designs, with profits going directly back to the groms who designed them. It’s teaching entrepreneurship, creativity, and community support all at the same time — a truly special project for Kaua‘i’s surf community.
